From Meet-Ups to Memories- Building Bonds, Creating Community. Social Events That Bring Us Together.
I am particularly passionate about this role, as while I value the importance of external events that help our members excel professionally, I believe it is equally crucial to create internal events that promote inclusivity and a strong sense of community within our society.
As part of the committee for events at KCL Poetry Society, I have hands-on experience in engaging members through wholesome and creative activities that keep the glue of the society intact. This has included themed events, such as Valentine’s letter-making workshops, which have reinforced the importance of networking and inclusivity first-hand. The skills that I have learned from this role are highly transferable and will enable me to bring fresh and engaging social events to the 93% Club.
My Key Objectives for this Role
- Encourage Diverse Social Events. I plan to introduce a range of fun and interactive activities, from relaxed café or bar meet-ups to more dynamic trips, making full use of London’s social offerings.
- Cross-University Collaboration. I am eager to explore partnerships with 93% Clubs at other universities, creating inter-club social events that foster a wider community beyond King’s College London. This will unite state-school students not only within KCL, but beyond.
- Strengthening Internal Bonds. My primary focus is to ensure our members feel a strong connection with one another. To do this, I am keen to offer opportunities for them to engage in meaningful conversations and shared experiences within the state school community.
Through this role, I hope to cultivate a warm and interactive environment where members feel welcome, valued, and truly part of a larger support network. By balancing professional development with engaging social initiatives, we can ensure that the 93% Club remains a place where students not only succeed but also thrive together.
